Physically-based Gemstone Shaders (WIP)

PLEASE USE THIS ONLY WITH THE LATEST STABLE BLENDER VERSION!
(this makes use of newly added or changed nodes)

Also... I HIGHLY reccomend you use this with AGX. I cannot gaurantee this project will look good with ACES or another color space. I designed this around Cycles and AGX specifically, but it should translate decently to most color spaces.

What is it?

This is a set of gemstone shaders I made in nodes / cycles. They exhibit actual physically-based properties of the minerals themselves.

(I used physics and optical data from wikipedia, but I trust it enough.. I dont know why someone would lie about... bifringence... or pleochroism..)

Each Object, Shader, and Material are all properly distinct and properly labeled. Every shader has its own unique properties and shader info inside of them, so feel free to dig them apart. Just open the left node, and you can change the math I used in each mineral.

If you want to use any of these materials in a new project, just go to File > Append > Gemstone Material Archive.blend > Materials > (Gem of your choice, such as "Chrysoberyl") > Ok

Then the material with both shader nodes should just pop into your project, and look just like this:

Why do some have a lot of nodes, and some only a few?

Some of them are simple, some are complex. Like diamond is only 4 nodes... While chrysoberyl has an entire pleochroism simulation tree.. I simply tried to replicate all of the major aspects of every mineral's looks. These are also heavily based off my own collection, so yeah, they may not match stones you own or have seen online

This pack is unfinished. I will continue to add more in the future. This is just a random side project of mine.

This shader pack also makes HEAVY use of a slightly modified version of jocafa's fancy glass, so go support his work: https://jocafa.gumroad.com/l/gMBZq?layout=profile

What minerals does this pack have?

Currently it has YAG, Diamond, Ruby, Sapphire, Quartz, Amethyst, Citrine, Topaz, Emerald, Bixbite, Hydrothermal-Emerald, Aquamarine, Heliodor, Goshenite, Morganite, and Chrysoberyl.

Ill continue to add more occasionally.
